Nuts for Coconuts

This is one of my best Zbrush projects where I used booleans to create hard surfaces. It was also my first project to reiterate a character from the traits of past designs, as well as create nonverbal storytelling.

Making the ear holes was the hardest part at first, but all I had to do was duplicate one cylinder to end up with a repeated pattern of them. Next, I brought in a sphere, then stretched and bent the shape, and finally put it inside the bigger sphere, and boolean the small sphere. Finally, before I merged both shapes, I duplicated the small shape, placed the cylinder group within the small shape, and then reverse-boolean the cylinder group.

After the design was finished, it was time to pose and then render.

I made a new render because I didn’t like the material being consistent in the old render. Its a robot, but robots don’t have metallic gloves, tongue, etc., and metallic things have different yet minor material settings.
